Chemical Process Liquid Filtration
Prepare the process, filtration, dimensional, and equipment details needed for a preliminary technical review and quotation. A material name alone does not confirm chemical compatibility, filtration performance, or fit with existing equipment.
Start With the Actual Process Conditions
Chemical process filtration is application-specific. The product path should be reviewed against the actual process liquid and known additives, concentration, normal and peak temperature, solids characteristics and loading, required micron rating or mesh opening, target flow, operating pressure, differential pressure where known, service expectations, and the existing housing or equipment.
General material families can support a preliminary discussion, but they do not establish suitability by themselves. Final media, construction, seal, connection, and equipment fit should be confirmed before quotation or production.
Chemical Filtration Selection Factors
- Process liquid: exact liquid, known additives or contaminants, concentration, pH where applicable, and any compatibility concerns.
- Temperature: normal operating temperature, peak temperature, exposure duration, and whether operation is batch or continuous.
- Solids: particle type, approximate size, loading, and whether the objective is removal, recovery, clarification, or prefiltration.
- Filtration requirement: required micron rating or mesh opening and the rating basis if known.
- Hydraulic conditions: target flow, operating pressure, and differential pressure where available.
- Equipment fit: current bag, cartridge, basket, or housing dimensions; connections; seals; and installation details.
- Service plan: expected run time, changeout practice, cleaning or reuse expectations, quantity, and project timing.
Existing Product Paths for Application Review
Liquid Filter Bags
Polypropylene filter bags may be reviewed for process-liquid particulate filtration when the media and complete bag construction suit the conditions. Polyester filter bags may be reviewed for particulate removal when the process conditions suit polyester media. Nylon mesh filter bags provide a defined-opening path for straining, prefiltration, or particle recovery. Bag review should include media, micron or opening, dimensions, ring or collar, seams, support basket, housing fit, flow, temperature, solids, and the actual liquid chemistry.
Liquid Filter Cartridges
Melt-blown cartridges provide a depth-style path for sediment or particulate reduction. Pleated cartridges provide a configurable media, micron, end-connection, and seal path with increased surface area compared with many depth-cartridge configurations. High-flow filter cartridges are reviewed against the existing cartridge or housing dimensions, connection, media, micron requirement, and operating conditions. Stainless steel filter cartridges require confirmation of construction, grade, rating, dimensions, connection, process conditions, and equipment fit.
Cartridge Filter Housings
Cartridge filter housings may be reviewed for selected process-liquid systems. A housing RFQ should identify the cartridge type, outside diameter, length and count; process fluid; flow; pressure; temperature; housing and seal materials; inlet and outlet connections; drain, vent, closure, and mounting details; and any existing model, drawing, or photograph.
Information to Include in Your RFQ
- Company, contact name, email, country or region, and preferred contact method.
- Requested product path: filter bag, filter cartridge, cartridge housing, or not yet determined.
- Process liquid and all known additives, contaminants, concentration, pH, and compatibility concerns.
- Normal and peak temperature, operating cycle, and exposure duration.
- Solids type, approximate particle size, loading, and filtration objective.
- Required micron rating or mesh opening and the rating basis if known.
- Target flow, operating pressure, and differential pressure where known.
- Existing bag, cartridge, basket, or housing dimensions and quantity.
- Ring, collar, end cap, connection, gasket, seal, inlet, outlet, drain, vent, closure, or mounting details as applicable.
- Preferred or existing media, material, stainless steel grade, or seal material if known.
- Current manufacturer, model, part number, label information, replacement schedule, and project timing where available.
- Drawings, data sheets, labels, and clear photographs of the current part, housing, and installation area.
- Required documents or review requirements. Document availability should be confirmed for the exact offered configuration.
If some values are unknown, provide the information and photographs currently available and identify the unknown items for review.
